Who can apply as a volunteer?
Anyone who is aligned with our mission and can meet the requirements of a specific role may apply. Some roles may be open to students, young professionals, researchers, creatives, or community volunteers.
Is there an age requirement?
For most roles, applicants should be at least 18 years old. If a youth volunteer opportunity is opened, additional consent and supervision requirements may apply.
Do I need a specific degree or background?
Not always. Requirements vary depending on the assignment. Some roles may require writing, research, community engagement, administrative, design, or coordination skills, while others may be open to beginners who are willing to learn.
Are volunteer opportunities remote or onsite?
This depends on the assignment. Some roles are fully remote, while others may be hybrid or field-based when needed. Each opportunity will clearly state whether the role is remote, onsite, or hybrid.
Can I volunteer from outside Mindanao or outside the Philippines?
Yes, for remote roles. If the assignment can be completed online, volunteers may support from different locations, subject to communication and schedule expectations.
Are volunteers paid?
Volunteer roles are generally unpaid and do not create an employer-employee relationship. Unless expressly stated for a specific project, volunteers should not expect salary, wages, or employment benefits.
Are allowances provided?
If a role involves approved field activities, the organization may decide in advance whether limited logistical support or reimbursement will be provided. This will be communicated clearly before deployment or assignment.
How many hours do I need to commit?
Time commitment depends on the role. As a general guide, part-time volunteer roles may range from 5 to 20 hours per week. Each assignment will indicate the expected workload and duration.
How long does a volunteer assignment last?
Assignments may be short-term, project-based, recurring, or campaign-based. Each role will have a clear start point, expected outputs, and target completion period.
What kind of tasks may volunteers do?
Depending on the role, volunteers may assist with:
desk research and fact-finding
report drafting and documentation
communications and social media support
graphic or content assistance
volunteer coordination and outreach
event or campaign support
community-based data gathering, if approved
What are volunteers not allowed to do?
Volunteers must not:
misrepresent themselves as employees or official agents unless specifically authorized
collect money, solicit donations, or request funds from third parties without written approval
engage in discriminatory, abusive, unsafe, or unethical conduct
handle confidential information irresponsibly
perform tasks beyond the agreed assignment without approval
How are volunteers selected?
We review applicants based on mission fit, role requirements, availability, communication, reliability, and relevant skills or experience.
Will I receive orientation?
Yes. Selected volunteers may receive an onboarding email, briefing materials, role-specific instructions, and contact details for their point person.
Will I receive a certificate?
Volunteers who complete their assignment successfully and meet the required outputs may receive a certificate of appreciation or completion, subject to internal policy.
Can I list this experience on my CV or LinkedIn?
Yes, once your volunteer work has officially begun and your contribution is documented. Please use accurate titles and descriptions of your role.
